Deliberate Royal PDA

Earlier this week the royal sisters-in-law shared a rare moment of PDA. According to a source who spoke with Vanity Fair, the very British cheek-kiss at Commonwealth Day, was a deliberate move on Duchess Kate’s part. The source said that as it was Duchess Meghan’s last official public appearance before having her baby, Kate wanted to send out positive vibes. The source added that while “they might not have a huge amount in common, Kate has no issue with Meghan.”

Meghan’s New Trust

Queen Elizabeth II appointed Duchess Meghan Vice President of The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust on Friday, which was also International Women’s Day. The organization “supports young leaders promoting social change, bettering their communities and providing work opportunities and hope for others across the globe.”

Meg’s responsibilities will include, highlighting the Trust’s partnerships with young leaders across the Commonwealth—focusing on the work of those who support women and girls.

Prince Harry serves as President of the Trust.

Prince Harry Brings Dad Jokes

Prince Harry is already starting with the dad jokes. While on their trip to Morocco, the royal couple interacted with some local residents, one of which told Duchess Meghan congratulations on the pregnancy.

Cue Harry: “What? You’re pregnant? Is it mine?”

Meg responded: “Surprise!”

All enjoyed a good chuckle.

Royal Leave

With the birth of the royal baby approaching, royal sleuths are trying to determine how long Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry will be out of the spotlight. While parental leave for the royals is similar to “private citizens” aka mere mortals—2 weeks for dad, 6-ish months for mom—there is also a thing called “share parental leave.” The shared leave is where new moms and dads can share up to 50 weeks of off time. They can either stagger the time (i.e. Meg works a week then Harry works a week) or they can take the whole chunk off together.

If they choose to follow in the footsteps of Prince William and Duchess Kate, they would be sticking to the more traditional amount of leave.

Duchess Meghan’s New Role

The new year brings new responsibilities for Duchess Meghan. The newest royal is set to receive her first royal patronage this year and it is rumored to be one that she will enjoy.

According to The Daily Mail, The Queen is set to hand over her patronage of the National Theater.

While the official announcement is set to be made in the next few days, it will clearly be a natural fit for the former actress. Meghan has already had a private meeting with the National Theater’s director Rufus Norris and is excited to get started.

Royal Snub

Prince Charles was snubbed by his son, Prince William and daughter-in-law, Duchess Kate. The heir to the throne reportedly invited the couple to join him on a summer holiday to the Castle of Mey in Scotland, but they declined. While Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan were up for the trip, it is unclear why the other royals said no. According to a story by the Daily Beast–written earlier this summer–a royal source claimed that William just doesn’t “get on” with his father and they “are very different people.” While Kensington Palace denied the legitimacy of the story, maybe there is some truth to it.

Daddy Harry

Prince Harry is ecstatic to be a dad! He gushed about his newest (future) addition while speaking onstage at the opening ceremony of the 2018 Invictus Games at the Sydney Opera House. Duchess Meghan beamed at her hubby from the front row, while cradling her tiny baby bump. The royal baby news was announced hours after the newlyweds landed at their first stop—Australia—on their first joint royal tour. Harry, who served in the British Army for 10 years, founded the Invictus Games—an international Paralympic-style sports competition for wounded and ill military personnel and vets—in 2014.

Royal Shade

Prince Andrew threw some major shade in Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s direction. During an interview before his daughter, Princess Eugenie’s wedding on Friday, Prince Andrew said there would be “more guests here today than Harry and Meghan had, but that is the nature of Eugenie and Jack, they have so many friends.” The quote follows many rumors that Prince Andrew’s goal was to make his daughter’s wedding “bigger and better” than Harry and Meghan’s.

Baby for Troian & Patrick

Troian Bellisario and Patrick J. Adams are parents! The Pretty Little Liars actress and Suits actor welcomed a baby girl, according E! News. The couple, who married in December 2016, tried their best to keep the pregnancy a secret, but a baby bump was spotted about two weeks after they attended the wedding of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan. This is the first child for both of them.

Royal Run-In

Prince Harry ran into an old flame while in Amsterdam. Dining at the new SoHo House with Duchess Meghan, the Prince had an awkward run in with “rumored” ex Jenna Coleman. A source told Vanity Fair that Harry and Jenna basically ignored one another, but he did have to walk past her to get to his table with Meghan. Jenna was reportedly dining with boyfriend Tom Hughes. Harry and Tom both pursued Jenna at one time, but she ultimately chose Tom because she felt “she had more in common with a fellow actor”.

Samantha Markle: Royal Stalker

Samantha Markle can now add royal stalker to her crazy half-sister resume. Markle has been hanging out in Italy, with plans to fly to London, in hopes of getting a meeting with Duchess Megan; she shouldn’t hold her breath. A friend of Meghan’s told The Daily Mail that “there is not a chance in hell that Meghan is going to lower herself and meet with her half-sister”. According to Markle’s manager, she hopes to discuss their father’s failing health with the Duchess. What. A. Mess.
