With El Chapo’s verdict possibly coming this week, staffers at the Brooklyn Federal Court are being trained for the worst-case scenario, including active shooter crisis. According to TMZ, U.S. Marshalls led the courthouse employees through a mandatory active shooter drill. Many employees were taken by surprise with the extreme nature of the drills. One person, who has worked there for years, said he had never seen anything like it, despite the number of high-profile cases held there.
The drug king pin is considered a special case because of his drug cartel connections and that fact that he has escaped custody multiple times.
He is facing life in prison.
