Turmoil Deepens at Top of Virginia Government

More trouble at the top of Virginia government: Attorney General Mark Herring admitted on Wednesday to wearing blackface to a college party back in 1980. In a statement, as a 19 year old college undergraduate, he and friends decided to dress up as rappers at a party. He blamed “ignorance and glib attitudes” and a lack of appreciation for others’ perspectives and apologized for contributing “to the pain Virginians have felt this week.” Herring is third in line for the governorship, as the Governor and Lt. Gov. are both dealing with scandals of their own.
