SF Giants Hall of Famer Willie McCovey Dead at 80

San Francisco Giants Hall of Fame first baseman Willie McCovey died Wednesday at the age of 80 following a number of health-related issues.

McCovey played 19 of his 22 MLB seasons with the Giants and was named to 6 All Star teams, was the Rookie of the year in 1959 and was named NL MVP in 1969. The Alabama native hit 521 home runs currently 20th in MLB history and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1986.
