Waters Charged With Ethics Violations

Maxine Waters has been charged with three ethics violations. The California Democrat was slapped with the charges Tuesday by the House ethics committee. Waters gave inappropriate bailout assistance to a bank to which she had personal connections, the charges allege. The ethics committee says Waters organized a meeting in 2008 between officials from the U.S. Treasury and executives of OneUnited Bank. The problem? Her husband was once a member of the company’s board and had large investments. OneUnited Bank got $12 million from the Troubled Asset Relief Program, the trough of bailout money pushers insisted was needed to prop up the economy during the depths of the Great Recession.
