Giving Thanks 2013

  • We’re thankful 30 Rock ended while it was still funny in 2013, without belaboring an eighth season.
  • We’re thankful that Mary Burke is being held accountable for previous statements and business actions; perhaps after an election and a recall, the media have grown tired of trying to flog Gov. Scott Walker to death.
  • We’re thankful for Aaron Rodgers, whose value is proven more greatly in his absence than in his time on the field.
  • We’re thankful we know about Amazon.com, and don’t feel the need to forego sleep after Thanksgiving dinner.
  • We’re thankful Beyonce is keeping it tight after having a baby.
  • We’re thankful the masses are beginning to understand the realities of the Affordable Care Act.
  • We’re thankful the GOP has a dense crop to pick a presidential candidate from nationally, including Mr. Walker.
  • We’re thankful that our tax dollars are put to good use.
  • We’re thankful for the hard work done by scientists to help humankind understand the universe; we’re thankful we no longer have to look up at the sky unable to understand what’s up there.
  • We’re thankful for the advice and mentorship of successful people.
  • Lastly, we’re thankful to live in a country that still offers practically limitless economic opportunity. The gears were more thickly greased in years past, but there is no better or more free place in the world than America.
